Another day in Paradise

IMRC Researcher in Residence

10.09.15 | Comment?

It’s been about a week since I packed up all of my belongings and headed out to Maine where I am currently on a two month residency at the IMRC Center at the University of Maine.

Setting up a new temporary studio is a slow process, but I’m beginning to get things up and running. Here are a few shots of my current mess, dabbling with electronics and trying to figure out how to “do jawari’ on a tanpura bridge. The work I am currently developing is a custom built electro-acoustic tanpura. The tanpura will be another in the lineup of autonomous instruments I’ve been creating. The final goal of this project is to create a platform from which I can control the instrument via EEG brainwave data. Much inspired by the works of Alvin Lucier and Godfried-Willem Raes.
